Install TimeGuard on a network

Applicable to:    TimeGuard Network | TimeGuard Pro

A) Download and save the database file:

  1. When you are done exploring the demo database, download a clean database file using the following link:
    Download TgDb4.mdb

    OR:

If you already have a database with data, you can copy it to the network drive.

  2. The database file should be saved in any directory on the local network which is visible to all the stations - preferably on a PC running a Windows Server OS, and preferably in a new directory dedicated to TimeGuard, such as:
X:\TgDb   (replace the 'X' with the hard-drive name).

B) Install and set TimeGuard on all the stations:

Repeat the following steps for every station:

  1. Install TimeGuard Network on the station.
Note: If Microsoft Framework 2.0 is not present, TimeGuard will download and install it automatically. If some of the stations are NOT connected to the Internet, you should download Microsoft Framework 2.0 and manually install it on every station, before installing TimeGuard. You can download it from Terilyon's web site:
    http://www.terilyon.com/downloads.html

  2. Run TimeGuard and open the 'Input' window by clicking the orange star icon at the lower right hand corner of the screen. Click the 'Employee' link at the top left side corner of the 'Input' window, and log-in as 'Admin'. The default password is: 123456   (we recommend that you change it later to a password of your own).

  3. Right click and select 'Application Settings' in the pop-up menu.

  4. Select the 'Database' tab, as seen in the image of TimeGuard settings screen, below.

  5. In the 'Database path' section, click the 'Browse' button.

  6. Navigate to the database file which you had placed on the network drive (as described in section A above) and open it.

  7. In 'Time Related' tab select the first day of the week (the default is Monday).

  8. Click the 'Close' button in TimeGuard settings window. TimeGuard will identify the database change and will consequently close after showing a couple of confirmation messages.

  9. Run TimeGuard once again.

C) Define the users of the system:

  1. When all stations are set, define the users of the system by logging-in at one of the stations as 'Admin'. There is no need to repeat this procedure at the other stations.

  2. Right-click and select 'Employees--->Employee List' in the pop-up menu. The 'Manager Tools' window will become visible (see image).

  3. Add the employees. Define ID, name, status and password for each employee.

  4. We recommend that you now change 'Admin' password to a new one, so other users will not be able to log-in as 'Admin'.
